65% do not use an ERP

myERP Minute: April 2026 Newsletter

That is where time and money disappear.

That figure comes from the CSO’s 2025 Information Society Statistics report. Two thirds of Irish enterprises are still coordinating operations through spreadsheets, emails, and disconnected tools.

This month we cover what that costs, what changes after ERP, and why the real question is not about software.

Spreadsheets are not a business system.

The CSO surveyed enterprises across manufacturing, construction, and selected services. Only 35% used ERP software. Among small enterprises, that figure drops to 29%.

It starts with one spreadsheet. Then another, then a third because the second got complicated. Before long, three people are managing three versions of the same data, and no one agrees what is current.

This is not a data problem. It is a growth problem. Your business outgrew the tools it started with, and no one had time to stop and fix it.

ERP removes that. One connected system for stock, orders, finance, and reporting. Your team stops chasing information and starts using it.

Before and after ERP

What running your business looks like before ERP and after it.

Before: stock checked manually or discovered too late, orders tracked across inboxes, finance compiled from multiple files, reporting takes most of a day, decisions based on last week’s data.

After: everything in one place, reports in seconds, everyone sees the same numbers, decisions based on what is happening now.

It changes how confident you feel running the business day to day. Owners and managers stop firefighting and start planning.

We work with engineering, manufacturing, distribution, and medical device companies across Ireland. Clear timelines, dedicated support, and a team that stays with you after go-live.

94% of CFOs regret their ERP system. Here is why.

AccountsIQ’s 2025 CFO Mindset Report surveyed 1,000 finance leaders across Ireland and the UK. 94% said they regret implementing their ERP system. The main reasons were hidden costs after go-live, underused features, and a gap between what was promised and what was delivered.

That number exists because most ERP implementations are sold, not guided. A vendor closes the deal, hands over to a team that has never met you, and you go live on something that technically works but does not reflect how your business runs.

Our approach starts with operations, not a product demo. We understand how your business works before we recommend anything. We build around your processes, train your team properly, and stay involved after go-live.

If you have already been through a frustrating ERP experience, your caution is reasonable. It is also exactly the conversation we want to have.
